Because of the nature of their work, active and veteran service members often face an uphill battle when trying to buy a home. While the nation struggles to understand the needs of this unique homebuyer, Fairway Independent Mortgage has taken a proactive stance in providing housing opportunities for veterans.
To that end, Fairway will be hosting three “Boot Camp” events in Pennsylvania to train local mortgage professionals and real estate agents on how to help active U.S. military service members and veterans overcome barriers to homeownership.
The objective of Fairway’s Military Mortgage Specialist and Certified Military Residential Specialist certification programs is to train and equip real estate and mortgage professionals to handle with care the home purchase needs of active duty and former military clients. Attendees will learn about VA mortgage programs and acquire the unique skills needed to help active military and veterans in their quest for homeownership.
In addition, at the Allentown event on April 8th, Fairway Military Mortgage Specialist Director Louise Thaxton will present a mortgage-free home to Sharon, Pennsylvania native and Purple Heart recipient Tyler Schell, who was injured while in 2009 while serving in Afghanistan. This giveaway is made possible through the incredible Fairway employees who each made donations from their personal funds.

The Boot Campaign
The Boot Campaign is a grassroots military appreciation and veteran awareness campaign started by five women from Texas, known as the Boot Girls. The Boot Girls launched the Boot Campaign in 2009 to spread awareness of the needs of military personnel returning home from combat and express gratitude to current military. Through the sale of military combat boots, the Boot Campaign donates proceeds to a group of partner charities that work with soldiers healing from a variety of physical and emotional combat wounds, embodying the campaign motto that, “When They Come Back, We Give Back.” For more information, visit www.BootCampaign.com.
