The employees of Fairway Independent Mortgage got their “boots on the ground” in Pennsylvania earlier this month to serve one of our nation’s heroes by partnering with the Boot Campaign and the Military Warriors Support Foundation to present a mortgage free home to a wounded warrior.
U.S. Army veteran and Purple Heart recipient, Tyler Schell, a native of Sharon, Pennsylvania, who was injured in 2009 while serving in Afghanistan, could hardly believe that he was going to be the recipient of a mortgage-free home in Pennsylvania. This home giveaway was made possible by the generous individual donations of Fairway employees and is the sixth home giveaway in less than one year.
The event took place at a special ceremony held in conjunction with both a Fairway Boot Camp in Allentown, Pennsylvania, for Military Mortgage Specialists and a CMRS Boot Camp for real estate agents to be trained as Certified Military Residential Specialists. Also present and speaking were Terri Murphy, author and trainer, Louise Thaxton, director of the Military Mortgage Specialists of Fairway, and New York Times best selling author, Sean Parnell, who autographed over one hundred copies of his book, Outlaw Platoon.
As Americans, we can take our freedom for granted. May we remember today that freedom is NOT free. Warriors like Tyler lay it all on the line as they volunteer to serve our country. It’s time to stop talking about veteran statistics and do something about them!
What can YOU do today to get YOUR “boots on the ground” to serve our nation’s heroes?
